Applications Are Now Open for the Spring 2025 Semester!

As the founder of Seger Law, Attorney Seger knows all too well the obstacles faced by individuals with entrepreneurial spirits. As a result, Seger Law is thrilled to introduce the Aspiring Professionals Scholarship! This $1,000 scholarship opportunity is dedicated to college students who plan on opening their own law practices or businesses someday.

Venturing into the realm of running your own practice or business can be a momentous journey of both victories and challenges. College graduates who start businesses have the power to disrupt traditional norms, introduce their unique perspectives, and foster an environment that supports diversity and inclusion.

Our scholarship program not only provides financial support to students pursuing their dreams, but it also empowers individduals to lead, inspire, and make a lasting mark on the professional world.

Who Can Apply To Our Scholarship?

To apply for this scholarship, students must have 2.5 GPA or higher, be citizens or permanent residents of the United States, and be at least 17 years of age. More specfically, the types of students we hope to award include:

  • Law students currently enrolled/attending law school who aspire to either start their own practice or go into private practice after graduation with goals of opening their own practice in the future.
  • Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in pre-law, political science, criminal justice, and planning/accepted to attend law school.
  • Undergraduate students in their junior or senior year pursuing business degrees may apply if they are pursuing their dream of opening up their own business that benefits their communities and create jobs for women and minorities.
  • Business students who are attending law school after graduation.

What Does the Application Require?

All materials must be submitted prior to 11:59PM on December 30, 2024. Before applying for this scholarship, please make sure to gather all necessary documents and
information ahead of time. Here are the required materials:

Proof of current enrollment or acceptance into an accredited business or legal program at a college or university (acceptable forms include acceptance letters, class schedule, registration, and more).

An unofficial transcript from the student’s current institution must be provided, showing their academic performance if their proof of
enrollment document does not already state their GPA.

Additionally, we ask applicants to submit a thoughtful and compelling 500-700 word essay answering one of the following prompts:

A. ) Discuss a major challenge you have faced in your academic or personal life. How did you overcome this challenge, and how has it prepared you for the challenges of being an entrepreneur?

B. ) Explain how your future law practice will contribute to your community. What initiatives do you plan to implement to make a positive impact?

How Will Applications Be Evaluated?

Our team aims to have a winner selected by January 30, 2025. To be considered for our scholarship, applicants must satisfy all application requirements. Additionally, while reading applicant essays, our scholarship committee will weigh the following factors:

Does the applicant’s essay feature a consistent tone throughout, helping guide the reader through the beginning, middle, and end of the essay?
